The 2027 Nissan Z Is Official — And the NISMO Finally Has Three Pedals
April 09 2026,
Nissan has just pulled the wraps off the refreshed 2027 Z at the New York International Auto Show, and the headline news is what enthusiasts have been asking for since the current-generation Z launched: a proper manual transmission for the NISMO trim. The 2027 Z lineup receives design updates and handling improvements, with the track-focused NISMO now offering a six-speed manual configuration for the first time.
The 2027 Z is scheduled to arrive at Canadian dealerships this summer, bringing updated styling and performance enhancements to Nissan's iconic sports car. Here's what we know so far about the refreshed lineup.
Six-Speed Manual Returns to NISMO
The biggest news for 2027 is the addition of a six-speed manual transmission to the Z NISMO. Previously available only with a nine-speed automatic, the NISMO now gives drivers the choice of a traditional three-pedal setup paired with an EXEDY high-performance clutch. The manual transmission includes SynchroRev Match, which automatically blips the throttle on downshifts for smoother gear changes.
The NISMO trim produces 420 hp from its twin-turbocharged 3.0L V6 engine. Torque output is rated at 384 lb-ft, delivered between 2,000 and 5,200 rpm. The NISMO also features a mechanical clutch-type limited-slip differential and track-ready suspension tuning.
If you prefer the convenience of an automatic, the NISMO-tuned nine-speed automatic remains available with paddle shifters and launch control.
Design Updates Across the Lineup

Nissan has confirmed design updates for the 2027 Z, though full details on the exterior and interior changes have not yet been released. The NISMO trim receives unique styling elements, including a wider overall width of 73.6 inches. The NISMO also features a slightly higher ground clearance at 4.9 inches.
All 2027 Z models retain the same overall dimensions as the current generation, with a 100.4-inch wheelbase and 173.2-inch overall length. The low-slung sports car stands just 51.8 inches tall.
Handling Improvements
Nissan has announced handling improvements for the 2027 Z lineup, though specific suspension and chassis changes have not been detailed yet. The NISMO trim continues to feature track-focused tuning, with wider front and rear track widths for improved stability in corners.
The NISMO trim features a carbon fibre composite driveshaft when equipped with the six-speed manual, reducing rotating mass for quicker acceleration and sharper throttle response.
Safety and Technology
The 2027 Z includes Nissan's suite of driver assistance features as standard equipment. Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Predictive Forward Collision Warning, Blind Spot Warning, Lane Departure Warning, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert are all included across the lineup.
The Z also features Vehicle Dynamic Control and Traction Control System, along with a Tire Pressure Monitoring System and Nissan Vehicle Immobilizer System for added security.
Coming This Summer
The refreshed 2027 Nissan Z offers a focused update to Nissan's sports car, with the manual transmission configuration for the NISMO trim addressing a key request from driving enthusiasts.
