Nissan Introduces the First-Ever Rock Creek Grade to the Kicks Lineup

Newfoundland and Labrador’s gravel roads, coastal fog, and shoulder-season weather ask a lot of a compact crossover. Nissan is answering with a new grade built for drivers who want more confidence when the pavement runs out.

The 2027 Nissan Kicks Rock Creek is the first Rock Creek version of the Kicks ever offered in Canada. It joins the existing Rogue and Pathfinder Rock Creek models with the same idea: rugged looks and added capability, without asking buyers to move up to a larger vehicle.

What’s Confirmed for the 2027 Kicks Rock Creek

Rock Creek is the first-ever Rock Creek grade added to the Kicks lineup. It’s built on the Kicks SV and comes standard with Intelligent All-Wheel Drive, including a dedicated Off-Road drive mode that adjusts traction control tuning for loose surfaces like gravel, sand, and snow.

Rock Creek also offers Hill Descent Control, which manages speed automatically on steep, loose descents so the driver can focus on steering. The Kicks carries 214.2 mm of ground clearance, with an 18-degree approach angle, a 19.3-degree breakover angle, and a 26.7-degree departure angle.

This article covers what’s confirmed for the Rock Creek launch, not a full comparison against every grade in the lineup.

Rock Creek’s Place in the Kicks Lineup

The 2027 Kicks comes in four grades: S, SV, Rock Creek, and SR. S, SV, and SR each offer a choice of front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, while Rock Creek comes exclusively with all-wheel drive.

Rock Creek sits in the middle of the lineup, but its purpose is different from a straight step up in trim level. Instead of adding luxury touches, it adds a package of capability and styling changes aimed at drivers who spend time off smooth pavement or simply want the rugged look every day.

All four grades pair a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine making 141 hp and 140 lb-ft of torque with an Xtronic transmission, so the Rock Creek’s capability additions come from tuning and equipment rather than a different powertrain.

What Matters for Newfoundland and Labrador Shoppers

The Off-Road drive mode and Hill Descent Control matter most when conditions turn unpredictable, whether that’s a muddy back road, a gravel driveway, or a wet highway shoulder. Rock Creek is built to keep composure in those moments rather than just looking the part.

  • Rock Creek-exclusive 17-inch alloy wheels, gloss black mirrors, trim, and front and rear fascias
  • Amber Daytime Running Lights and accent lighting
  • Standard roof rails and cross bars rated to 165 lbs (75 kg), for carrying kayaks, skis, or bikes
  • Rock Creek Leatherette with Ballistic Nylon seating, heated front seats, and a heated, TailorFit-wrapped steering wheel

Inside, Rock Creek seats five with a 60/40 split-fold second row. Cargo space runs 676.8 L behind the rear seats and 1,418.7 L with them folded down, and a centre console, front and rear door bottle holders, and an underfloor storage system help keep gear organized on longer trips.

A 12.3-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is standard across the Kicks lineup, and Rock Creek includes four USB-C ports (two front, two rear) for charging on commutes, errands, or road trips.

Rock Creek also builds in extra driver-assist coverage beyond the SV it’s based on: standard Rear Automatic Braking and an HD Intelligent Around View Monitor with Moving Object Detection join the standard Nissan Safety Shield 360 suite, which includes Automatic Emergency Braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and High Beam Assist.

That coverage adds a layer of confidence for daily driving on Newfoundland and Labrador roads, where conditions can change block to block.
