Nissan's 2025 Armada: Is This the Off-Road King of the Full-Size SUV Market?

Nissan has taken the wraps off its completely redesigned 2025 Armada, bringing a host of upgrades to the full-size SUV segment. Set to hit Canadian dealerships in late 2024, the new Armada introduces the rugged PRO-4X grade alongside significant advancements in technology, design, and performance.

Off-Road Ready with PRO-4X

The headline addition to the Armada lineup is the new PRO-4X grade, engineered for superior off-road capability. This adventure-focused model boasts an electronic locking rear differential, underbody skid plates, and an increased approach angle of 33.9 degrees. With ground clearance raised to 9.6 inches, the PRO-4X is ready to tackle challenging terrain.

All 2025 Armada models benefit from a new frame offering 25% greater torsional rigidity and 57% increased lateral stiffness, promising improved ride quality and handling. The SUV also features eight selectable drive modes to optimize performance across various conditions.

Powerful and Efficient Powertrain

Under the hood, Nissan has replaced the previous V8 with a new twin-turbo 3.5-litre V6 engine. This powerplant delivers an impressive 425 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque, marking significant increases over its predecessor. The engine is paired with a new 9-speed automatic transmission, designed to enhance both acceleration and fuel efficiency.

Towing capacity remains robust at 8,500 pounds, supported by integrated technologies like Trailer Blind Spot Monitoring. Select grades also offer Load Levelling Air Suspension for optimized comfort and handling.

Bold Design and Luxurious Interior

The 2025 Armada boasts a striking exterior design with increased ground clearance and all-LED lighting. Inside, passengers will find a more spacious cabin with increased legroom in both the front and third rows. High-quality materials and available features like massaging front seats elevate the interior experience.

Technology takes centre stage with available dual 14.3-inch displays for infotainment and instrumentation. The Armada comes standard with Google built-in, offering seamless integration of familiar apps and services.

Cutting-Edge Safety and Driver Assistance

Nissan has equipped the new Armada with an array of advanced safety features. The Nissan Safety Shield 360 suite comes standard, while higher trims offer ProPILOT Assist 2.1, enabling hands-free highway driving under certain conditions.

Innovative camera technologies, including an Invisible Hood View and 3D Around View Monitor, provide enhanced visibility for both on and off-road situations.

The 2025 Nissan Armada will be available in five grades: SL, PRO-4X, Platinum, Platinum Reserve, and Platinum Reserve Captain's Chairs. With its combination of capability, comfort, and technology, the new Armada aims to set a new standard in the full-size SUV market.
